Nuakhai is the agricultural festival of people of Western odisha. The word nua means new and khai means food, so the name means the farmers are in possession of the newly harvested rice. The festival is seen as a new ray of hope, held the day after the Ganesh Chaturthi. It has a big significance for farmers and the agricultural community.  WOSACA Hyderabad is celebrating different festivals of western Odisha keeping the traditional values and cultural essence of each festival.

Nuakhai Bhetghat-2022

Post covid situation, in the year 2022, WOSACA celebrated Nuakhai Bhetghat in a new and spacious venue “Sri Venkateswara Swamy Kalyan Mandap” on 18th Sep 2022 . With huge public demand, one of the premere cultural troop “Sangeet Sadhna” from Loisingha, Balangir performed enthralling folk dance forms. Sri Rajendra Dholakia, hon’ble cabinet minister govt of Odisha graced the ocassion as chief guest and praised the efforts of WOSACA. For their significant contribution to the society Sri Brahmananda Meher (MD, Arundhati Group) was awarded with “Global Leadership Excellence Award”. On his nuakhai message Sri Brahmananda Meher spoke about our ancient culture and traditions. After inagural ceremony everyone sat together to have ‘CHURA-Kunda’ Prasad. Enthralling cultural performences by Guru Sankar Behera and team was the highlight of the event. On this ocassion WOSACA confered “Dand Maharshi” title to Sri Bipin Jal, “Sanskruti Samman” to Sri Sankar Behera, “Dhuliashree” title to Sri Magshira Nanda and “Kalakar Samman” to Sri Kedar Patel.

Young talent Asish Kumbhar, Pratiti Mishra, Manasi Kausal, Baby Raut, Chandan Satpathy enthralled the audience with their spectacular performances. An Exhibition-cum-sale on Sambalpuri handloom was also organized by Mehers Sambalpuri Handloom, Bijepur. Renowned film producer Sri K Tamanna was honored for his contributions to the field of Art & culture. Sri Arjun Kumar Sahu and Sri Nigamananda Nath were presented the honorary membership of WOSACA. Post covid period, this was the first stage program thoroughly enjoyed by all.

 

Nuakhai Bhetghat-2021

On 3rd October 2021, WOSACA organized Nuakhai Bhetghat on virtual platform with the theme “GAON NU GLOBAL” . The focus was to present and showcase the art forms which are on the verge of extinction. On her speech as chief guest, Smt. Srimayee Mishra (chairman, OTDC) highlighted the demand to include the language of our region in 8th schedule of the constitution.  Guest of honor Sri Adhiraj Panigrahi, Smt Kusum Tete (honorable MLAs), Padmashree Haldhar Nag, Guru sri Ghasiram Mishra, Sri Kesharanjan Pradhan,  Sri Mohana Sahu, Sri Chudamani Rath, Sri Sanjay Mishra, Sri Bhubaneswar Padhan (Kansa Maharaj, Bargarh Dhanujatra), Sri Sarbeswar Bhoi praised the effort of WOSACA to highlight and preserve our rich cultural heritage. Welcome message was given by Sri Ramkrushna Barik (President) and Sri Debendra Samal (General Secretary) highlighted different activities undertaken by WOSACA. Humo-Bauli, Ghuda-Nach, Dhunkel, Jhumer, Debgunia, SinghBaja, PaenDand, OramNach, Dandha, SishuGhumura, BadiKhel, Ghudka, GanaBaja, Bahak, BhaluBaensi, SohalaSuanga, HaraParbati, KrushnaGuru and many others cultural performances were presented on that day. Winners were announced of unique competitions (JHUTI, MATIR MEDHA, NIARA NUAKHAI) organized on this occasion. Western Odisha Yuva Manch (WOYM) was felicitated as SWABHIMANI SANGATHAN and multi talented Sri Arjun Kumar Sahu was felicitated with JUBA PRATIVA SAMMAN. Sri Shankarsan Sahu (Vice president) gave vote of thanks. Nuakhai Bhetghat-2020

Due to covid-19 restrictions, WOSACA organized Nuakhai Bhetghat on virtual platform on 13th September 2020. Before that a pre-nuakhai event “DHURKUTA HASI” was organized on 12th Sept which included six renowned hasya kabi from our region, Sri Sushil Mishra, Sri Achyut Purohit, Sri Gunaranjan Salima, Sri Durga Panda, Sri Nitish Acharya, Sri Debendra Sahu which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The theme of the nuakhai was Vocal for Local and the focus was to provide platforms for special talents and performers of western odisha. Padmashree Haldhar Nag, Dr. Atal Bihari Panda, Smt Tapaswini Guru joined us as special guests and emphasized the importance of Nuakhai. LIVE performances from renowned singer Sri Sarbeswar Bhoi, Sri Pankaj Jal, Smt. Sangeeta Rout, Prasanna, Pratap Sahu, Sourav Panda, Shakti Swaroopa Panda were enjoyed by all. Sangeet Sadhna, Paenri, Mayuri, Dulhabiha Sanskrutik Parishad, Krushnapriya Kala Parishad , VSS shabda nrutya and many other renowned troops presented their traditional dance forms. The entire event was beautifully hosted by young talent Arjun kumar Sahu and Sushree Manasi Sahu. Nuakhai Bhetghat-2019

In the year 2019, WOSACA celebrated Nuakhai Bhetghat in a new and spacious venue “KAMMA SANGHAM” in central location of Hyderabad. The venue was fully air-conditioned with capacity of 1500+ people . One of the leading cultural troop “MAYUREE” from Sundargarh, performed enthralling folk dance forms . The highlight of the event was comedy from comedy king JOGESH JOJO and team. Sri Adhiraj Panigrahi graced the occasion as chief guest and praised the efforts of WOSACA in spreading art and culture of western odisha. Special cultural performances by singer Sri Sarbeswar Bhoi, Arati Kumbhar, Rohit Dash was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Paschim Odisha Haat was organized for the first time in Hyderabad. This received a overwhelming response from the audience. Bollywood singer Sniti Mishra was also present as guest of honor. Dr Sekharlal Padhan was felicitated on this event for his contributions in the field of healthcare. “MATIR MAHAK” was released by all our guests and dignitaries. Special attraction included LIVE performances by KANSA Maharaj and Team from Nuapada. The event was hosted by young talent Sri Arjun Sahu and Sushobhita Guru.

 

Nuakhai Bhetghat-2018

2018 witnessed the biggest Nuakhai Bhetghat celebration in Hyderabad . One of the leading cultural troop “PAENRI” performed enthralling folk dance forms directed by Sri Chaudhari Bibhar. The highlight of the event was “GHUDKA” dance presented by SANA-BADA (folk musicians) & Team for the first time in Hyderabad. This received a overwhelming response from the audience. Smt Snehangini Chhuria, Hon’ble Minister of Handloom, Textile & Handicraft, Govt. Of Odisha was chief guest on this occasion. Dr. S Venugopal Chary (Former Union Minister) was also present as guest of honor. Ace film Director/Producer Sri Ghanteswar Guru (Bollywood) and Pt. Gurusri Dr. Ghasiram Mishra (Musician, Composer, Researcher) graced the occasion with their kind presence. Sri Pankaj Jal, Smt. Mansi Panigrahi, Sri Prasna, Neelima, little star Muskan performed popular sambalpuri chart-busters which were thoroughly enjoyed by all. Kabi Sri Debendra Sahu recited his hasya kabita with great comic timings followed by special acts from multi talented master Susanta. Sushree Vidya Bageswari performed traditional “PARVA” nach. Our souvenir “MATIR MAHAK” was released by all our guests and dignitaries. Special attraction included Sambalpuri book fair-cum-exhibition and Sambalpuri Handloom exhibition. Authentic lunch with flavors from western odisha was served as 850+ families in and around hyderabad participated in this mega event.

 

Nuakhai Bhetghat-2017

In 2017, it was a mega Nuakhai Bhetghat celebration in Hyderabad with 700+ families joining the celebration. Two renowned cultural troops (Sangeet Sadhna and Prativa) performed first time in Hyderabad. Ace film director Sri Sabyasachi Mohapatra was the chief guest on this occasion. Sri Sarbeswar Bhoi (folk singer), Sri Hrusikesh Bhoi (Kansa Maharaj-Bargarh), Hasya kabi Sri Nitish Acharya were other dignitaries who graced the occasion. Sambalpuri fashion show was organized for the first time to promote world famous Sambalpuri sarees.

 

Nuakhai Bhetghat-2016

Nuakhai Bhetghat was celebrated in the year 2016 with much enthusiasm. Smt Snehangini Chhuria, Minister of State (Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts) was chief guest on this occasion. Padmashree Haldhar Nag was felicitated for his contributions to literature. Pashu kabi Sushil Mishra, famous singer Byasadev Purohit were other dignitaries who graced the occasion. The event was enjoyed by 400+ families in and around Hyderabad.
